Today I want to share a concept with you that I usually reserve for my paying clients. It’s growth mapping.


Growth mapping is not just about understanding your current position; it’s about charting a purposeful path to leverage your skills and expertise for monetary gain. Consider your growth map, your strategic blueprint, detailing each step needed to scale not just your business, but your personal brand and leadership capabilities. It encompasses the essence of progression—personal, professional, and organizational.

Know Your Location – Plan Your Destination


The first step in monetizing your skills is to clearly define your starting point and your desired end point. Then we take your plane to a 30,000 feet view and scan the horizon. In this phase, granularity is not the focus; rather, it’s about pinpointing your current expertise level and the market’s need for it. This overview helps you to plot a precise course, akin to an aviator setting coordinates from one airport to another, ensuring a direct and efficient trajectory towards your financial objectives.

Mapping vs. Strategy


While the growth map outlines your overarching monetization journey, the strategies are the individual tactics you will employ to achieve financial results. Once your destination is clear, the map informs the sequence and the blend of strategies needed. Say your expertise lies in digital marketing; your strategies might involve enhancing your social media presence, improving SEO, generating captivating content, and harnessing the power of advertising platforms. The map maintains the course, and the strategies propel you forward.
