Goals are important. If you don’t know what you want, how do you choose a deliberate path? Goals also can be daunting because it takes time and consideration to decide what you want and how to make it happen. That’s why I’m sharing 5 simple ways to set goals.
1: What do you want to be proud of when you’re 80?
This is where you establish the overall arching idea of your life. Think about if you want to inspire, motivate, provide, or simply have the best life. This is your big umbrella idea.
2: What is your one audacious big goal?
Neither time, money, logic, nor reason matters here. If there were no limitations of any kind, what would you do?
3: What is a realistic goal for this year?
With your life’s mission in place and a firm view of where you want to go in life, let’s take a look at your now. What is logical first step for you to take? Education, a new job, a promotion, money for a down payment? Think about a big first step that will get you started and that you will be proud of accomplishing.
4: What is your stretch goal for this year?
Step #3 is relatively easy for you to achieve because we made it realistic. For #4, let’s double your efforts. Think about something you’d have to really stretch yourself to achieve. This is not a step, it’s the kind of quantum leap I’ve written about before.
5: Get started
Break it down into a plan. Define the five action steps that you need to get started with right away to achieve any goal you identified in #1-4. And to make it easy, I am including this as a download.
