Smashbox Industry Soiree July 30
For those of you who have been following my monthly party activities, the Smashbox Industry Soiree is one of my favorite treats. Now that I have achieved somewhat of a celebrity status I feel that I am more and more”in” the loop. Not bad for someone whose clearly not in her 20ties anymore. So let’s take a look at what was going on at this event.
Let’s cover the most important facts (food) first. As always Quixote and Smashbox is littered with hip and fancy people, here is VIP concierge Kori Stanton with sponsor and caterer Felicia Howard from Elements Kitchen. There is only one word to say about that food – yum. For those of you who have the time, energy and are dialed in enough to stay on top of what’s hot and happening – my mentioning of the Kogi Korean BBQ Truck will bring you to your knees in awe! Guess where that truck was yesterday. Right here at the event and I have the picture to prove it. If you click on the image you’ll get to their Twitter page which by the way is the only way you can find out where the truck will be. And cheezit’s there are a lot of people who want to know this information, try some 38,000. Moving on to Co-founder and top dog of Smashbox and Quixote, here is Mikel Elliott taking at first innocently with one of the, if not the top celebrity photographer in the world – James White .But now watch what happens. When I went to grab a picture of Mikel and James just a short while little later James showed his appreciation for this great invent in no uncertain ways! Needless to say that Mikel was a little surprised himself and I am already giving myself points for catching this moment. James White and I first met when I ran the Outline division for Corbis, hard to believe it’s already a year and a half ago. James is a business man and very discret about his clients and what he shoots. He works hard at the business and from what I remember he is involved in every aspect. He’s at the top for a reason.
Always in search for some sort of a mini scandal I find these two stepping out of the motorhome. Uhm, uhm – well, they both work for Smasbhox and for the sake of a good rumor I won’t say who they are. By the way, this is the pretty cozy Verde Motorhome, for those who want to be environmentally conscious while not forgoing the comfort you get to expect from a Quixote motorhome. No wonder they went in there for a close inspection. Next I am running into Joseph Cultice and his beautiful and spunky wife, writer/director Soo-Hyun Chung. Over Kogi BBQ tacos we discussed that relocating to Los Angeles from New York was a good move for this happy couple. Hint for those of you who are assistants in LA – Joseph is still looking to build his roster of assistants, so get your resume’s dusted of and put a nice shirt and workboots on and contact him. And on that note, here is the first assistant Benny Haddad (on the right) who took advantage of that fact and was introduced to Joseph by Ettore Zuccarelli. As always Ettore is the life of the party and he was looking as handsome as always. Back over to the outside stage, here is Kori Stanton again announcing the band Kid Whiskey . Here are Ross McAlpine and Jason Davis in front of Quixote’s drive through (order the truck, drive it through, have it loaded and off you go). And over here is a group that was having quite the time . In the picture are Reuben Coron and Paal Anand, composite artist Anthony Graf, Elena Morales and Kelle Holland from BlingImaging.
Funny, every time I see Dee she is with another mysterious man, I wonder what that means but she sure looks happy. Here she is with author David Dayan Fisher. Check this out people. He wrote a 50 page long book called “The Gift.” Click on the image to find out more. David told me that given the need for speed he cut out all the fuss and told it like it is. People who’ve read it have a sense of accomplishment as they finally – READ A BOOK. Where are the days where we curled up on the swing and read our 2000 pages of Gone With The Wind?
As I am taking my final rounds I run into Mikel Elliott again, he’s looking a little exhausted (no wonder after entertaining the largest crowd yet) and Tom Jacob who is the guy you want to know if you need to KinoFlo lighting system. Photographers swear by it. Oh, that’s right and I am in the picture as well, I do look like I had a good time, which I surely did. Click on the image and see what I’ve been up to.
