For those of you who are not familiar with Picturehouse let me sum it up. It is an event that brings sellers and buyers of stock images together. They have a variety of different options available for anyone who wants to exhibit. That means that even solo photographers can showcase their stock.
This year they are adding seminars and the kickoff event is facilitated by Nancy Wolff who is and has been my attorney. She will be speaking about copyright. Nancy is very knowledgeable and one of the if not the top expert in this field. She breaks it down in easy steps so that you can understand the process involved to protect yourself and your work. This event is only open for buyers.

New York Eagerly Anticipates the Ninth Picturehouse Event
October 14th is when image buyers will get their next opportunity to meet face to face with stock photo and footage agencies, assignment photographers and reps. Moving next door into a larger venue, the Metropolitan Pavilion, Picturehouse New York will this year also host educational seminars and discussion groups throughout the day.
“Based on feedback from attendees at our previous events, we are bringing back footage, introducing assignment photography, and adding an educational dimension to the day,” comments Deborah Free, President of Picturehouse US. “We are delighted to have Nancy Wolff, a respected author and digital media attorney, start the day with a seminar on copyright. This will be followed by discussion sessions, led by industry experts, on using footage, understanding pricing models, searching efficiently, and more. We expect to welcome in the region of 1,000 professional image buyers this year.”
Each year since 2001 Picturehouse has brought together a wide range of specialist and international agencies in one place for one day, creating a unique opportunity for stock image buyers to find just the right suppliers. The policy of admitting only professional buyers and researchers ensures the day is thoroughly productive for exhibitors and attendees alike.
“I liked the availability of every agency and every connection in one place – mission accomplished in that sense. Perhaps this is because of the exclusivity of the event in that it was just professionals – buyers and agencies, and no one else. It brought about an intimacy that made the event much more fun and relaxed and even though I’d never been previously, I knew going into it that I would be among the best of the best.”

As ever, there will be complimentary food and beverages, including beer and wine after 5pm, giveaways throughout the day, and a prize drawing, making the day fun as well as productive.
