Moderator Jeff Burke: an accomplished photographer, stock photo agent and business leader, with a wealth of experiences and perspectives on the business of photography. In 1984 Jeff, and his wife and business partner, Lorraine Triolo, opened the BurkeTriolo Studio. In 1994 they created FoodPix, a business that grew into four stock image collections as PictureArts (purchased by Jupiterimages in 2005).  Jeff has also served as president of PACA; is co-founder and chair of the PLUS Coalition (a worldwide initiative to facilitate image licensing through the use of standardized metadata); serves as the chair of the board of governors of Brooks Institute in Santa Barbara; and is currently producing original fine art in his studio in South Pasadena, CA. Entries are now being accepted for the Palos Verdes Art Center’s 2009 Juried All-Media Exhibition. The entry deadline is Friday, June 19, 2009.

Artists can enter up to five pieces in any medium, including drawing, painting, photography, mixed media, sculpture, ceramics and video, for a single $10 administrative fee. Entries must be submitted as digital images in a size suitable for print reproduction. The exhibition features $2,900 in awards, including a $1,000 first prize. This year’s juror is Christy Johnson, director of the American Museum of Ceramic Art.

The actual exhibition will be from August 21 through September 26, 2009, at the Palos Verdes Art Center, 5504 W. Crestridge Rd., Rancho Palos Verdes, CA, 90275. An opening reception and awards ceremony will be from 5 – 8 p.m.

Friday, August 21. Regular gallery hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and 1-4 p.m. Sundays.

Please take a look at the below fee structure and read the blurb that I took off the copyright office website. With a six month backlog the copyright office is encouraging electronic submissions.

Shown below are fees for copyright registration, recordation, and other services. Note that there is now a lower filing fee for online registration of basic claims through the electronic Copyright Office.

Effective August 1, 2009, some fees will change. Fees marked with an asterisk are proposed by the Copyright Office and will go into effect August 1, if Congress does not take action to disapprove them. Fees without an asterisk will take effect on August 1 based on regulations to be issued by the Copyright Office.
