Image10 was a nationwide photo contest run by the New York chapter of the American Society of Media Photographers and open to all professional, serious amateur and student photographers residing in the United States. Contestants were asked to submit one or more images that were created after January 1, 2009. The deadline for entry submissions was May 1, 2010. For technical information on submissions see How to submit an image.
Here is why this is important: The winners now are ‘award winning photographers’ which makes for a good reason to contact existing and potential clients. Nothing like sharing a victory and showing your images without the cold call feel. What do you achieve? Your clients are looking at your image which of course you are putting prominently on your website and while they are there they probably will look at your other images. Next you write your own press release to your local news stations and the photo blogs. You have to find your unique twist though, there has to be something newsworthy about it. Your goal to drive traffic to your site is achieved.
