As an owner of a company that works with a fantastic team of specialists, things can get pretty busy. From managing the team, to mapping out future growth strategies, to marketing and promotional efforts, my days are filled to the brim.

For the past few months I have had a feeling that I bet you can relate to. It feels like big changes are coming. One thought had been percolating in my mind for so long that my inner voice finally resorted to scolding me. “Beate, you are not playing big enough!”

Much too much

It is so easy to fall into the trap of complacency. We are all very busy, we need to get things done, and often times that means wading through the pile of STUFF that is stacked 10 feet high in front of us. It’s like the mountain of snow that I saw on a recent ski trip to Mammoth Mountain. So much snow that the city does not know where to put it.

That is a woman’s life. So much to handle.

Then comes the day when we hit a hard stop. A health scare, the unexpected loss of a family member, or some other big thing that makes you stop in your tracks. For me, the roadblock came when a great run of speaking engagements suddenly ended. What happened?

It drove me mad until I realized that to get through it, I had to do what Michelle Young calls finding the opportunity in this. Yeah right, because we have the time to do that. All I wanted was to push through this obstacle as quickly as possible.

Mine wasn’t moving. Perhaps yours isn’t either.

All the while, that nagging inner voice kept chiding me on. “Come on, Beate! Why is it taking you so long?” I did all I could to quiet the voice, but I wound up only spinning in circles, trying this, mailing that, cold calling like a mad women. And still—I was at the same dead stop.

You CAN have it all

The story of my life that I outline in my book Happy Woman Happy World demonstrates the challenges that women face when they want the proverbial “everything.” My concept of ego-RHYTHM™ describes the different phases of life and how we can manage each of them gracefully.

I realized I was in the Transition ego-RHYTHM™, which gives us permission to be unclear and in a state of figuring out what comes next.

Finally, and with much encouragement, I stopped pushing. Actually, I just stopped altogether. I hired a wonderful Shaman healer, Sonya Janes, and she helped me clear my mind and uncover underlying issues. Then I spent a day of spa bliss with my girlfriends before they helped me slay through my confusion during a mastermind session.

And voilà. Clarity began to return.

If you have been ignoring that voice inside (like I did), please pause before you hit a hard stop (also like I did). There’s a message that you need to hear, so please listen to the voice inside. Not doing so has big consequences.

I bet if you pay attention, your voice is trying to tell you same thing as mine told me: play bigger.

Where do we go from here?

In the next few weeks I will be rolling out the first stage of my transformation and I will explain how this affects you and the services I offer.

But for now, I want you to simply ask yourself one question: What would happen if you stopped for a few days and focused on what your inner voice is trying to tell you? Please share your thoughts with our Facebook group. I want our online community to be a place of interaction where we help each other and provide much needed support.

That said, I know that many of you don’t need another blog post or email that does nothing more for you than fill your inbox. You owe it to yourself to honor your precious time, so spend your time where you feel you get most value. I suggest you commit or unsubscribe.

I sure hope you choose to travel this path with me. But if not, I understand. No hard feelings. All I want for you is to find something that resonates with where you are at.

The reason everyone is so out of sorts is because of our political shake up and the relentless external pushing has thrown us off our calm, quiet lives. We are called to make a decision. To get involved, to speak up, to commit, to fight, to open our eyes and truly see what is in front of us.

Two weeks ago this was a huge challenge for me. Today, I see the opportunity. And the only thing that changed was ME. And just like that, the phone has started to ring again…
